Members of the Yorktown Police Department were dispatched to a stretch of Crompond Road (Route 202) at approximately 6 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 11, where there was a report of a vehicle that was stopped in the roadway. It was further reported that the driver appeared to be sleeping in the front seat.
Upon arrival, officers found the driver - later identified as Croton-on-Hudson resident Larissa Rojas-Leon, 21 - and her vehicle, which had struck a guardrail.
The investigation into the crash determined that Rojas-Leon allegedly was under the influence of alcohol when she failed to keep right in her lane and disobeyed a traffic signal before striking the guardrail.
Rojas-Leon was arrested at the scene and transported to the Yorktown Police Department, where she was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content greater than .08 percent, both misdemeanors. She was also cited for failure to keep right and disobeying a traffic control device.
Following her processing, Rojas-Leon was released and is due back in Yorktown Justice Court on Sept. 25 to answer the charges.
